Reminder to parents about holiday dates 2014-15

by isleofman.com 17th June 2014
Parents and carers are reminded that the school holiday dates for TT 2015 are longer than usual.

Schools in the Isle of Man will be closed for half term from Monday 1st June to Friday 12th June, 2015. This period includes both TT practice and TT race weeks.

However, examination boards will schedule GCSE and A Level exams for both practice and race weeks, when most UK schools are open.

As in the past, students who have exams in this period will be expected to attend them even though school is closed to other students. This will involve Year 10 students, as well as those in their final year of GCSEs and those studying for A Levels.

Parents and carers are urged to consider this if seeking to make the most of the longer than usual break by booking holidays.

The holidays the following year (2015-16) revert to the more typical pattern of schools being open to pupils for the Tuesday (31st May), Wednesday (1st June) and Thursday (2nd June) of practice week but then closing to pupils until after race week, returning on Monday 13th June.

Parents wishing to check when schools are open and closed should visit www.gov.im and click on ‘school holidays’ or ring the Department of Education and Children on 01624 685820.
