My position was 'untenable', admits DED Minister

by isleofman.com 20th June 2014
A senior government minister’s admitted his position had become ‘untenable’ and that he had little choice but to resign.
John Shimmin’s resignation as head of the Economic Development department was confirmed yesterday afternoon (Thursday) after being originally refused by the Chief Minister.
It came after legal experts found government acted outside of its powers in a multimillion-pound deal to bail out the Sefton Group.
Mr Shimmin, a minister for more than 12 years, has moved to reassure the Island’s business community about the future of the economy and says any personal disappointment at standing down is academic.Clip 1
