Gerrard wins Parish Walk solo for first time

by isleofman.com 22nd June 2014

Richard Gerrard has recorded a comprehensive victory in the 2014 Manx Telecom Parish Walk.
He finished well clear of leading challengers David Walker, Richard Wild and David Mapp to take the title late last night in a time of 15 hours, 15 minutes and 20 seconds - 38 minutes ahead of Walker.
It was a second success in three years for Gerrard and a first outright triumph after he shared the honours with Irishman Vinny Lynch in 2012.
He told Tim Glover a solo victory was something he really wanted (play audio):
Janette Morgan was the first lady to finish, and sixth overall, in a time of 16 hours, 48 minutes and 14 seconds.
Janice Quirk was second, thirteen minutes behind, while Joanne Cubbon was a further 38 minutes back in third.
Alex Eaton and Danielle Oates were the respective under-21 winners in the race to Peel.
