Just to reassure all potential volunteers, the world record beach cleaning attempt by Ramsey Grammar School in conjunction with Beach Buddies will be going ahead tomorrow morning (Friday) even though the weather forecast is not too brilliant.
Head teacher David Trace, event co-ordinator deputy head Julie Owen and Bill Dale of Beach Buddies have agreed that the event will go ahead from 9am tomorrow morning.
“We were concerned that students would get wet and then have to spend the rest of the day in damp clothes,” said Julie Owen. “We have been watching the weather forecast closely and we have decided to make the decision to go ahead.”
Bill Dale added, “There has been a huge amount of work in the background by the school, and it would have been a major disappointment, particularly for the students, to postpone the record attempt, so we have agreed that we should go ahead as planned.
“We are still asking members of the public to get involved, by arriving at the swimming pool end of Mooragh promenade for 9am, for a 9.20am start. This will be a very relaxed and unique occasion, to be enjoyed, and we warmly welcome everyone who can to make the effort to create a world record for Ramsey Grammar School, Beach Buddies and the Isle of Man.”
Everyone taking part will be provided with the necessary equipment - all that’s required is a decent pair of shoes suitable for walking on the beach.
