STA Swimming Teachers Awards

by isleofman.com 27th June 2014
Five candidates recently took part in a STA Swimming Teachers Award held at the Northern Swimming Pool in Ramsey.

Pictured are Gaby Cooper, Anna Sharp, Liam Reynolds, Heather Moore and Matthew Meechan with Mary Doyle, STA Tutor. Also pictured are Gary Hunter (Pool manager) Tony  Rea,  Sarah Comish  (Pool Lifeguard) with Irene Joyce.

Lead STA tutor Irene was on the island to examine the course but also to assess Gary and Tony who have begun the tutoring process in order to run further swimming teacher training courses at the Northern Pool.

The Northern Pool is fast developing a reputation for being a centre of swimming teacher training excellence on the Island as in addition to the recent STA course it also held 2 STA CPD workshops which 24 local swimming teachers attended. The STA prides itself on being ‘lifesaving aware’ so a Pool Emergency Procedures workshop was also held in May. This was tutored by Mary Doyle.

Gary thanked all the children that attended the lessons during the course and congratulated the new swimming teachers. If you are interested in becoming an STA teacher please email: nothernswimmingpool@manx.net  A STA certificate course will be held later this year with further courses planned for 2015.
