by isleofman.com 29th June 2014
Douglas lifeboat was launched just after 10 o'clock last night (28 June) to go the aid of a yacht which had suffered engine failure.
The 10 metre vessel with three people onboard had left Fleetwood earlier in the day and encountered problems when approximately 12 miles off Douglas.
The RNLI all-weather lifeboat Sir William Hillary under the command of volunteer coxswain Neal Corran took the yacht under tow by and brought her into the Visitors’ Berth on the Battery Pier where the crew was met by Douglas Coastguard.
They were reported as safe and well and the lifeboat was readied for launch again by 1.15am
