by isleofman.com 30th June 2014

The government is using the results of a household survey to confirm the Isle of Man's share of VAT revenue with the UK.

Ten thousand households were asked to take part in the survey and the government received 917 responses - nine per cent of the addresses selected on a random basis.

The survey found that households spend the most per week on housing, fuel and power - an average of ?88 per week. Spending on recreation and culture, transport and food averaged 10 per cent of weekly household spending.
