An inquest into the death of a 10 year old girl has been adjourned while investigations continue.

Alexis Estelle Rebecca French of Lezayre Road in Ramsey died on October 5 last year following a head-on crash involving her parents' car and a bus.

The incident happened on the Castletown bypass at Ballakaighen Corner.

Today, Coroner of Inquests John Needham was told Alexis, who was born in the Bahamas and attended Ballaugh Primary School, was declared dead at Noble’s Hospital.

The cause of her death, the court heard, was head injuries she’d sustained in the crash.

Mr Needham released her body for funeral arrangements to be made, adjourned the case to a date to be fixed, and offered his condolences to the family.
