Don’t miss the Island’s next Open Mic Poetry Night

by isleofman.com 2nd July 2014

The Island’s next Open Mic Poetry Night will be held on Thursday 10 July, from 8pm onwards, in the downstairs bar at the Bath & Bottle in Victoria Street, Douglas. Poets will have the chance to step up to the mic and share their work with an appreciative and very friendly audience.

‘Open mics give poets a chance to get their work out there,’ said event organiser Hazel Teare. ‘They are also a great opportunity for poets to practice reading and performance in front of an audience, in preparation for this year’s Poetry Slam at Manx Litfest in September’.

Unlike the annual Poetry Slam, the open mic nights are non-competitive and everyone is welcome to take part, or just to come along and listen. If you’d like to read, make sure you arrive promptly to get a slot on the mic, as they can sometimes get filled quickly. To find out more, contact Hazel – music_freak@hotmail.com.
