Report claims Ministers played fast and loose with financial regulations

by isleofman.com 3rd July 2014
The results of a Public Accounts Committee investigation suggests ministers were "playing fast and loose with financial regulations"
A report from the committee is due to be laid before Tynwald next week.
They were investigating whether government had the authority to take three quarters of million pounds from reserves without Tynwald approval, to pay for consultants reviewing the National Insurance Fund.
The report finds that the decision exposed the NI fund to "unquantified risks"
Chief Minister Allan Bell says he regrets it has been leaked before the Tynwald sitting and questions some of the language used within it.
The report is due to be debated by the court in the autumn.
