MHK seeks further answers

by isleofman.com 4th July 2014
An MHK claims government ministers broke financial regulations.
Kate Beecroft says findings from Tynwald’s public accounts committee do not paint a good picture.
The committee investigated whether government had the authority to take three quarters of million pounds from reserves without Tynwald approval, to pay for consultants reviewing the National Insurance Fund.
Chief Minister Allan Bell says the report clearly shows that ministers were quite within their rights not to take the decision to Tynwald, though he admits it raises some issues which need investigation and if aspects of the legislation need clarification, then that will be done.
However, Mrs Beecroft says many questions remain unanswered.
The report isn't due to be debated by Tynwald until October or November.
