It's been confirmed this morning (Sunday) that Mark Cavendish is out of the Tour de France after a dramatic crash yesterday.
The Manx cycling star dislocated his shoulder after a collision involving several riders just metres from the finish line. Thousands of spectators had turned out to see British cycling's biggest draw compete in the opening stage of the event from Harrogate to Leeds.
Cavendish had hoped his injury would not prove serious enough to miss the race but had his worst fears confirmed this morning and said he was 'gutted' at being forced to drop out.
