Tynwald Honour bestowed on Normandy veteran Hector Duff

by isleofman.com 7th July 2014
Normandy veteran Hector Duff has been awarded the Tynwald Honour - the highest public accolades the Isle of Man can bestow upon one of its citizens.
The honour, only occasionally given, recognises an individual who has made an outstanding and selfless contribution to Manx life over a significant period.
The 94-year old who saw front-line action in north Africa, Italy and on the beaches at D-Day, has spent much of the past 30 years campaigning on behalf of armed forces' organisations and supporting local charities.
More recently he has devoted himself to a schools' project, telling young people in the Island about his experiences.
Clare Christian, President of Tynwald, awarding him the honour in the Chapel of St John today, said he was an inspiration across the generations: Clip 1
