by isleofman.com 9th July 2014

Ramsey RNLI’s annual Lifeboat Day is on Saturday 12th July, at the close of Ramsey National Week and, in the time honoured tradition, it will be centred in the area around the RNLI lifeboat station on South Promenade, Ramsey.

Ramsey Lifeboat Day is a fantastic opportunity to find out more about the town’s Lifeboat, catch up with its volunteers, have some fun and, of course raise vital funds for the lifesaving RNLI charity. An eager lifeboat crew, assisted by their families, friends and supporters all look forward to welcoming visitors from 11am to late afternoon for an enjoyable day out for all the family. Everyone will be made very welcome.

The day will open at 11am with a performance by the Northern Spirit Baton Twirlers and the launch of Ramsey Lifeboat.

Once again there will be plenty to do and to see including: Douglas and Ramsey lifeboats, with tours of both lifeboats, static displays by the emergency services, the Fire Brigade will give a demonstration of their life saving skills, excitement with the Venture Centre, an opportunity to try out the Manx Model Boat Club’s Av A Go radio controlled model boats, Quine’s tasty hog roast, sausages and burgers and other refreshments, bouncy castles, an assortment of other stalls and Stormy Stan, the RNLI stalwart and superstar, will be on hand to entertain his fans throughout the day.

Simultaneously and in support of Ramsey Lifeboat Day, Kayak Fishing Isle of Man in association with Ramsey Outdoors and Rods ‘n’ Reels, Ramsey are running a kayak fishing completion in Ramsey Bay from 10am.

As a finale to lifeboat day Manx Grass & Sand Racing, supported by Ramsey Town Commissioners, will be holding a beach race with racing taking place from approximately 5pm.
