Junior Tynwald to grasp political nettle

by isleofman.com 14th July 2014
Island high school students will debate some of the most controversial issues of today when they take their places at this year's sitting of Junior Tynwald.
Year 12 pupils from all five secondary schools will represent Island constituencies, taking part in a realistic Question Time and political debates.
Issues on the order paper include same-sex marriage, government spending and the sewerage charge.
Questions will be answered by elected members before the house votes on decriminalising marijuana and legalising assisted suicide.
Junior Tynwald is organised by the Island branch of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association and the education department.
CPA branch chairman, MHK Juan Watterson, says it's a unique opportunity for young people to see the political process from inside:Clip 1
