Douglas prom second phase approved

by isleofman.com 16th July 2014
Tynwald has approved more than ?1.3 million-worth of funding for the second phase of work on Douglas promenade.
Peter Karran tabled an amendment calling for a delay to the money being given so a full assessment of flood risk could be brought to Tynwald by October 2014.
The court debated the amendment for more than an hour, but only three MHKs were in favour of it.
The prom scheme was subsequently approved, with just two MHKs opposing it - Onchan members Peter Karran and David Quirk.
Before the votes, Department of Infrastructure member John Houghton MHK responded to members' comments, on behalf of the minister, who was not there.
