Public/private sector moves quashed

by isleofman.com 17th July 2014
Moves to stop former senior government figures from joining private sector companies when they leave the public sector have been voted down by Tynwald.
Yesterday, Onchan MHK Peter Karran asked the court to set up a committee examining people working for companies they dealt with during their public sector career.
In particular, he said he had concerns about senior civil servants joining construction companies – and former Tynwald members becoming company directors when they retire from politics.
Mr Karran’s motion was defeated, but he says he’s still convinced there’s a problem:Clip 1
