Prom refurbishment approved

by isleofman.com 17th July 2014

Tynwald has agreed to spend ?1.36million on the second phase of the refurbishment of Douglas promenade.

Members were told the works were crucial to improve the seaport gateway to the Isle of Man. This phase of the scheme from the Bottleneck car park to Regent Street will see the horse tram track removed from that section of the road. Ultimately, a new track will be laid on the seaward side of the length of the promenade.

The third and largest phase of the project will complete the refurbishment of the prom from Regent Street to Strathallan.

Work is set to get underway in September and should be completed by March next year.
