Beach cleaning this weekend

by isleofman.com 17th July 2014

Apologies to anyone who turned up at Pooill Vaaish last weekend when we had to postpone the Beach Buddies beach cleaning event, due to the unforeseen Lighthouses Challenge cycling event. One or two people didn’t hear that the event had been called off, and made the trip to the beach.

This weekend we are DEFINITELY going to Pooill Vaaish! The weather forecast is excellent and we will meet at the usual time on Sunday morning, July 20th, at the road alongside the beach which is accessed through the farmyard. Please note this is a working farm and there may be machinery, workers and animals in the farmyard. Please take care as you drive through.

As always, Beach Buddies will provide all the necessary equipment, including litter pickers, gloves and bin bags, which are supplied with the support of WDS Ltd, DoI and SITA. Beach Buddies also disposes of all materials collected afterwards, recycling where possible, with support from the four DoI amenity sites and the SITA Energy From Waste Plant.

Families are encouraged and new volunteers will always receive a friendly welcome for the session, which lasts no more than 90 minutes. Good walking shoes are the only requirement. Well behaved dogs are also welcome, especially if they are good at collecting plastic bottles!
