This very kind donation was raised through the staff from Nedbank Private Wealth taking part in the Manx Telecom Parish Walk dressed as superheros. The theme was picked as the Parish Walk date was part of a UK national week of fundraising and awareness for children’s hospices which was called superheros.
Mary was delighted to receive the funds on behalf of Rebecca House. She said: “The children’s hospice costs just over half a million pounds each year to run. We currently look after 29 children so donations like this will cover 24/7 care for 3 days.” “We rely so much on the generosity of our local community so I would like to thank Nedbank Private Wealth staff for their continuing support.”
“The guys walked the Parish Walk in some fabulous costumes – there was a handmade papermache Iron Man, twins dressed as Ninja Turtles, Bananaman, Superwoman, Spiderman, Wolverine and many more. To me they were all superheros particularly in the heat of that day!”
Dave Horisk, who was the main ideas man and walked dressed as Iron Man, said “It was great to see so many people get behind our efforts and thanks to all those who dug deep in their pockets and donated cash along our way. We also enjoyed the support and well needed refreshments from Hospice volunteers and our colleagues at the feeding station who were also dressed as superheroes like Pikachu, Buzz Lightyear and Captain America.”
