A spectacular event celebrating all forms of on-Island transport is to take place on the Isle of Man from 30 July to 3 August.
The Manx Heritage Transport Festival includes a commemoration of the 140th anniversary of the steam railway operating to Port Erin.
This anniversary on 1 August will see a number of Peel P50s and Tridents carried on the steam railway from Douglas to Port Erin, where the unique Manx-made cars will go on display as part of their 50th anniversary celebrations.
And the special motorail train departing Douglas at 12:50 will be hauled by Isle of Man Railways’ diesel electric loco no. 21, making its public service debut.
At Port Erin there will vintage bus displays from the earliest to the most modern in Isle of Man Transport’s fleet.
Meanwhile at Castletown passengers will have the chance to see vintage commercial vehicles – a 1934 Sentinel steam wagon, a 1907 Fowler traction engine and a 1959 Foden Laxey Flour vehicle.
Later on history will be made with the first ever double-header diesel and steam hauled passenger train departing Port Erin at 16:05.
Other highlights over the action packed five day festival include a 14 railways cruise on board the MV Karina, art and model railway displays, rare combinations of rolling stock on both the steam and the Manx Electric Railway plus a guided walk, steam workshop tours and a special travelling post office on both steam and electric.
