Early repair for Manannan

by isleofman.com 24th July 2014
The fast craft Manannan is going to be repaired sooner than planned.
She has recently been operating on reduced power since a problem developed with one of her four engines, and that has added 20 minutes to each journey.
Originally it was planned to take the fastcraft out of service for up to three days in mid-September to allow for a full repair.
But the Packet now says that as much of the work as possible will be carried out while the boat is in port overnight.

Jason Roberts reports:
The repairs are expected to take a fortnight, with work to re-build and re-commission the damaged engine taking place each night while the ship's in port.
Manannan should then be back to full power in time for the Festival of Motorcycling.

The Steampacket hope this should avoid having to take the vessel out of service in September and only one Liverpool service will be lost on August 6.
The Company says it is making every effort to contact passengers on that affected journey to offer them alternative sailings. Clip 1
