A busy summer ahead for Citywing

by isleofman.com 25th July 2014

Citywing has had a busy summer this year, promoting the Island far and wide across the UK and introducing new special offer fares and extra flights to its timetables.

As well as attending the Island’s own upcoming Southern Agricultural Show, and sponsoring the directional signage for this event, Citywing made an appearance earlier this summer at shows in Blackpool and Gloucester with exhibitions promoting the Isle of Man as a potential destination for tourists.

The company also recently brought representatives from The Bay radio station based in Lancaster, working together with the Isle of Man Government and Sleepwell Hotels, to encourage visitors to the Island and launch a competition for listeners to win a trip to the Isle of Man.

Improvements made to its current flight timetable have kept Citywing busy, including a new twice-daily scheduled service to Glasgow, which provides the only direct link between the Isle of Man and Scotland, and from less than ?100 return. Extra flights were also put in place over the TT 2014 period – a service that will likely be needed again for TT 2015 as Citywing has already sold a number of seats on flights across next year’s festival fortnight.

In addition, the recently introduced new Blackpool Hopper fare allows customers to take advantage of special low rates on selected flights to and from Blackpool, which Citywing hopes will further enhance customer satisfaction.

The Citywing team has also lent a hand to several local community initiatives over the summer, including participating in St Ninian’s High School careers day, offering placements for work experience students and hosting its popular Plane Pull on behalf of Manx Cancer Help.

Citywing Managing Director, David Buck, said: ‘Being present at the shows over the summer is a fantastic opportunity to increase exposure of the Isle of Man, and we are very excited about our new competition with The Bay radio station.  We are always trying to think of ways to reach out to people and let them know everything the Island has to offer as a unique holiday and business destination.

‘We are also continually looking for new and exciting offers for our passengers, and are delighted to be able to offer competitive fares across our routes, including our new Glasgow service.  We hope that the benefits customers receive with Citywing will continue to encourage more people to explore the Isle of Man throughout the year, and give Island residents the opportunity to discover the delights of cities across the UK.’
