New ferry deck for bikes

by isleofman.com 30th July 2014

The Steam Packet is building an extra deck on its seacat Manannan to cope with increased demand for next year's TT festival.

The ferry company says sales started at 8.30am on Monday and by 3pm the call centre had dealt with fifty per cent more calls than an ordinary Monday in July. More than 600 motorcycle bookings had been made by phone and on the website.

In response to the higher demand, a mezzanine deck is being fabricated this autumn and installed ahead of each TT to create extra space for bikes during peak periods. The new deck will allow the Manannan to carry up to one hundred additional motorcycles on each sailing.
