?350,000 school bus revenue, says pressure group

by isleofman.com 30th July 2014

TravelWatch has responded to the government's consultation on public transport and parking.

The pressure group says not enough financial information about the potential revenue from proposed school bus fares has been provided, adding its own enquiries suggest a 50p fixed school fare would bring in ?325,000 to ?350,000 annually and that other scenarios should have been considered.

TravelWatch says it believes the standard of public transport provision on the Island is good and the present network and frequency should largely be preserved, and that other options are preferable to cutting services.

The group is calling for better consultation over bus timetable and fare changes and for the provision of a 'proper bus interchange facility' in Douglas.
