Tin bath competitors aim to avoid that sinking feeling

Castletown hosts the 43rd world tin bath championships today (Sat 15 Aug)
The annual event sees competitors from near and far vye to stay afloat in tiny rudimentary vessels as they paddle the short course in the outer harbour to the finishing line.
Lee Cain will defend his title in the men's class whilst in the ladies race Erika Cowen will be paddling all out for her 16th title.
Crowds of spectators are expected to line the harbour where the popular snake races and team events will also be held.
The event gets underway at 3pm. Roads around the harbour close an hour earlier and as ever all proceeds will go to local charities
Race organiser for the Castletown Ale Drinkers Society Dave Collister is one of only two competitors who have taken part in every championship.
He says it truly is a world event:
