Local celebs go head to head

by isleofman.com 11th September 2014

It's a case of Baggs v Tilbury in the challenge to create the perfect folded pizza or calzone at the Isle of Man Food and Drink Festival.

Stuart Baggs, who achieved notoriety through his appearance on The Apprentice, will be warming up for his appearance in a Manx episode of Come Dine With Me to be screened later this year.

He'll be competing at the festival against well known local character Dot Tilbury, who won an MBE for her work as a cycling coach, at the Villa Marina at 3pm on Saturday, September 20.

Baggs said: 'If I’m going to beat Dot, I’ll need to cheat. My plan is to distract Dot with tales of cycling and hope she burns her pizza! Eating is something I’m very good at and no matter where I’ve travelled, I always crave a bit of Manx home cooking. It’s just a shame I’m so bad at it.'

Dot is rising to the challenge, stating: 'I think Lord Sugar described Stuart as a bit of a “gobby geezer” – so we should get along fine! I’m really looking forward to the Festival, to meeting Stuart and seeing the crowds. A spot of live cooking, with lots of good fun. But be warned, I’ve never made a pizza in my life!'
