Hopes for wide input to national debate

The Island's local authorities are waiting to find out what part they will play in an Island-wide public debate on a new approach to public services.

The government has already announced it plans to start a major national debate this autumn, on meeting the future needs of the population from reduced public spending budgets.

Local councils have bveen asked for their input, although details of what's billed as The Big Debate have not yet been released.
