Volunteering a tonic for ex offenders

by isleofman.com 15th September 2014
An Island charity says its volunteering scheme is helping ex offenders to turn their lives around.

CIRCA is an Island-wide umbrella scheme which matches volunteers with other charities and voluntary groups with roles to fill.

There's a wide choice of work for the volunteers, whose ages range from 14 to 84.

They're involved in projects ranging from walking dogs for elderly people to serving coffee at a drop-in centre for the homeless.

CIRCA has also helped those referred by the prison and probation service to find a rewarding new challenge in life.
