Festival of Motorcycling figures up again

by isleofman.com 18th September 2014
The Isle of Man Festival of Motorcycling has shown significant growth for the second consecutive year.
It follows the decision to rebrand the event in 2012, with the festival now made up of the Classic TT, the Manx Grand Prix Races, the Classic and Two-Day Trials, and the Vintage Motorcycle Club Rally and Festival of Jurby.
Figures from this year's event show an 11% increase in motorcycles travelling on the ferry with passenger numbers also up by over a thousand, whilst the Isle of Man Airport Authority reported an increase of almost 12% this year in the number of inbound and outbound passengers during the fortnight.
It's claimed the event now contributes over ?6million to the local economy and ?1million in Exchequer benefit.
Political member with responsibility for Motorsport and Tourism David Cretney says the event has something for everyone and the "Classic TT" format has been a great success with the motorcycle media.
