Dan and Jake are masters of time travel

by isleofman.com 19th September 2014

Brothers Jake and Dan Levine proved themselves to be time travellers extraordinaire in the Family Library’s Summer Reading Scheme.

Library members spent the school summer holiday reading and exploring as part of the scheme, which this year was on the theme of The Time Machine, taking inspiration from the H. G. Wells classic and transporting bookworms back to the Victorian period.

One of the tasks was to search for hidden Time Machine depictions at Manx National Heritage sites and then collect all the different Time Machine colours, before handing them in to the library.

Dan, six, (pictured, right) and Jake, nine, of Douglas, won the top prize of vouchers for the Lexicon Bookshop and received certificates and a time travel gift.

The prizes were presented at a party held for all those who completed the scheme.

Librarian in charge Mary Cousins said: ‘As well as saying well done to Dan and Jake, we would like to congratulate and thank everyone who took part to make the reading scheme a big success.’

You can keep up to date with all the events at the Family Library, which is next to the playground in Westmoreland Road, Douglas, by visiting its website familylibrary.im – which has details of all the resources available from the Family Library and the Mobile Family Library – and by visiting the Family Library’s page on Facebook.
