PAG to discuss Equality Bill

by isleofman.com 21st September 2014

There's a chance for you to have a say on the issues of disability and equality on Monday night.
They are the topic of the Positive Action Group's first meeting of the autumn.
There will be two passionate speakers on the subject - Champion for Deaf people Gareth Foulkes and Isle of Man advocate Paul Beckett, who has just completed a dissertation at Oxford University into human rights.
A draft Equality Bill is currently out for consultation on the Island, which has been described by Chief Minister Allan Bell as "one of the most important pieces of legislation to be put forward on the Island for some time."
PAG committee member Muriel Garland says it will be interesting to see just how much reaction there will be to the speakers: (play audio)
The meeting is on Monday night, at the Manx Legion Hall on Market Hill in Douglas.
Doors open at 7pm with the meeting getting under way at 7.30pm.
All are welcome.
