Facelift for Lady Isabella

by isleofman.com 22nd September 2014

A major project to refurbish the famous Laxey Wheel is due to get under way next month.

Manx National Heritage is today reviewing tenders ahead of appointing a contractor to carry out the work.

It involves cleaning and painting the structure, and replacing timber boarding and cladding. The scheme is due to get under way on October 22 and should be completed by spring next year. The wheel is pictured covered in scaffolding during her last refurbishment in winter 2003/4 ahead of 150th anniversary celebrations.
