Ramsey Swing Bridge to reopen this week

by isleofman.com 22nd September 2014
Ramsey Swing Bridge is finally expected to reopen at the end of this week after being closed for a whole year.
When repairs began in 2013 it was expected to take only a few months at a cost of ?750,000.
However, problems arose when work started and engineers found a previous repair had not been carried out correctly – the wheels were not the right size.
Chartered mechanical engineer, and head of highway and asset management, Tim Cowin, says the bridge’s wedge system also needed to be fixed:Clip 1
