The IOMHACA is holding its second AGM on Monday 29 September at the Commissioners Offices in Union Mills, Braddan.
2014 has been a successful year for the Association with a growing recognition by the DHSC, and the management at the hospital, the Association can provide valuable assistance to them in their endeavours to overcome many of the challenges facing the health and social care sectors on the island.
In particular, it is already being demonstrated the Association has the ability to help make the complaints handing process work more effectively; and this is resulting in more satisfactory outcomes for both the parties involved.
The Association, the DHSC and the hospital management want to develop the complaints advisory service provided by IOMHACA so that an even more effective and efficient mediation service can be offered to residents from 2015 onwards.
The Association continues with its plans to provide a single point for carers to visit on-line to obtain, and share, information, advice and good practise; and it is hoped that this project will involve input from students at IOM College.
The first part of the meeting will involve the usual formalities of an AGM with reports from the Chairman and Secretary, the presentation of the accounts and election of three members to the Council of Management; but once this part is completed there will be an open forum so members can discuss current health and social cares issues.
The meeting starts at 7.30pm prompt and, although open to non-members, only members can vote during the business part of the meeting.
