Craig Watt, his wife Francesca and his sister in law Imogen completed the Edinburgh Tough Mudder Challenge raising ?300 for local confidential charity the Drug Advice Service & Helpline (DASH).
The course renowned for its testing difficulty of obstacles and endurance takes place across the globe in various cities on an annual basis for those brave enough to face the challenge. Craig, from Edinburgh wanted to raise funds for DASH in memory of his Manx cousin, Joanne Tennant who sadly died in 2012.
Craig said, ‘I wanted to do something positive to remember Joanne and felt DASH was a worthwhile cause, we could help other people get the help they need in her memory. The staff at DASH do a fantastic job and do everything they can to help people get their lives back on track, they don’t judge. But they need financial support to continue to do that. Although we live in Edinburgh, we’ve been baking cakes and doing various things as well as the Tough Mudder Challenge to support DASH and I plan some other events later in the year.
I would encourage local’s on the Island to get involved with or support the charity as drugs are a serious growing issue and can often be missed as can mental health problems linked to them. Drugs affect the whole family and it’s important that confidential services such as DASH are around. I’m pretty sure Joanne would be pleased we’re able to help other people too.
