Friary Park residents say 'misleading comments' still hitting house prices

by isleofman.com 1st October 2014
There's still concern among some residents of Friary Park that the value of their houses remain depressed following recent newspaper articles.
It was claimed that the seventies built Cambar-Mantis houses, made of concrete panels held together with steel bolts, were nearing the end of their life, and that banks were reluctant to lend on them.
This has led to property prices on the estate being devalued by anything up to 30%.
A working party has since been set up to investigate the issue and has reported that the Cambar-Mantis houses on the Island were built to a much higher standard here than in the UK
But secretary of the group Friends of Friary Park Ros Gash says the Friary Park estate had been government supported when it was built and there should be a public apology over the misleading information, while Friary Park resident Tony Waugh says even though comments regarding the longevity of the houses have been retracted it's too little, too late:Clip 1
