Lewin loses damages appeal

Disgraced former commissioners' clerk Charles 'Buster' Lewin has lost his appeal against a damages decision in the High Court.

Earlier this year, Lewin's claim against Braddan Commissioners was thrown out of court - today the authority's announced his appeal has also been dismissed.

Buster Lewin had claimed damages of more than ?1 million from Braddan Commissioners for wrongful dismissal as their clerk in 2007 and the loss of his pension rights.

Now, the board says it will do everything in its power to recover what it describes as 'hefty' legal costs from Lewin, incurred while defending the case.

Lewin was jailed for election fraud after the east Douglas by election in 2010.
