Trams could run again next year

by isleofman.com 6th October 2014
The horse trams in Douglas may run as usual again next season.
It was thought that their last ever journeys along the tracks which run down the middle of the promenade had taken place last month as the service was due to be suspended next year to allow for the tracks to be removed and replaced with a single line on the seaward side of the road.
The works formed part of the scheme to upgrade all of Douglas promenade.
However, this work has now been put on hold to allow consideration to be given to moving the trams to the promenade walkway instead.
Infrastructure Minister Phil Gawne says that decision wouldn't be his to make, but he wouldn't rule out the possibility: (play audio)
The two options regarding the tram tracks will be on public display in the main foyer of the Sea Terminal from Tuesday (7th) until Saturday (11th).
Visitors to the display will be invited to provide feedback about their preferred option by completing a feedback form.Clip 1
