Storm brings trees down island-wide

by isleofman.com 6th October 2014

Police are warning motorists to drive carefully after stormy weather overnight brought down trees across the island.

The main road between Ballaugh and the wildlife park remains closed to traffic after a falling tree took down electrical cables. Manx Utilities has been working to restore power supplies to households and Department of Infrastructure workers have been out since the early hours to clear roads of trees and debris.

Police say driving conditions are hazardous because of leaf debris on roads.

The weather conditions have resulted in a one hour delay to the departure of this morning's ferry sailing. The Ben my Chree is now due to depart at 9.45am.

The weather is expected to calm during the course of the day.
