Local fiduciary and fund services group, Abacus, have continued their ongoing support to local charities by donating over ?1,400 to Manx Miracles, their chosen charity for their latest financial quarter.
Manx Miracles, who recently celebrated their 1st anniversary, is a parent led charity for children that have additional needs and disabilities and was founded a year ago by a mother whose child had a rare collection of medical difficulties. They raise money for children and families on the Isle of Man that face significant challenges and are particularly passionate about helping children with physical and/or learning disabilities to reach their potential.
Louise Connor, Founder and a Trustee of Manx Miracles said: “On behalf of Manx Miracles, I would like to thank Abacus and their staff for their generous donation and for picking us as their quarter charity. As an organisation that relies entirely on voluntary contributions, we welcome help in many forms, be it donations, organising fundraising events, taking part in sponsored events or even just spreading the word and raising awareness of the charity within the community. Work is well under way to raise money for our first mission and Abacus’ donation will be a great addition to a project which we know will benefit a number of people.”
Their first mission of Manx Miracles is to raise ?80,000 to build and fit out a sensory play room in the Pre-School Assessment Centre (PSAC); a centre for children under five with special educational needs; in order to create a sensory enriched environment designed to support children with multi-sensory processing difficulties.
Martin Heaney, Managing Director of Abacus Financial Services Limited, said: “We are delighted to be able to present this donation to Manx Miracles and hope it will help them in some way to reach their target for completion of their first mission. The staff at Abacus are always very enthusiastic and generous when it comes to fundraising and making donations; once again they have done themselves proud.”
The donation from Abacus was raised through a Staff Charity Salary Deduction Scheme, which offers staff the opportunity to donate money from their salaries each month. The total of staff salary donations at the end of each quarter are matched by the company and then donated to a chosen charity. Staff at Abacus also held a raffle at their Annual Summer event and held a world cup themed cake and bake sale, all proceeds from which were added to the donation for Manx Miracles.
