Isle of Man Bank to close three branches

by isleofman.com 7th October 2014
Three branches of Isle of Man Bank are to close from next spring.
Managing Director Bill Shimmins says its branches in Onchan, Ballasalla and Prospect Terrace, Douglas are 'no longer sustainable' - due to the falling numbers of customers using them.
Isle of Man Bank says there's been a 30 per cent drop in the number of customers using the three branches in the past four years - while the number of online and mobile transactions has grown by 200 per cent.
Mr Shimmins says closing a branch is a difficult decision, not taken lightly. Two members of staff face losing their jobs as a result.
He says customers who lose their branch can instead use a new mobile banking facility and two new cash machines to be installed in the Spring Valley and Onchan areas, both services to be in place before the closures on 27 February 2015.
Isle of Man Bank shut its Laxey branch in January, while the Kirk Michael facility closed in 2012.
