Staff from the Department of Infrastructure say they will monitor weather conditions tonight and provide any assistance which may be required to households and businesses in the event of any coastal flooding tonight.
Areas of Castletown, Douglas and Ramsey may experience flooding as a result of low atmospheric pressure and the big spring tide tonight which peaks at around a quarter past midnight.
DoI staff and Civil Defence volunteers will be on standby to deploy sandbags and other preventative measures in the event of properties being at risk of flooding.
The Met Office has issued an amber weather warning, however they say conditions will not be as serious as January and February when high tides combined with storm force winds to cause widespread flooding and damage.
Sandbags are available free of charge from civic amenity sites across the Isle of Man and any residents or business owners who are concerned can contact the DoI’s customer services section at Ellerslie on 850000 during office hours or the out-of-hours duty Officer on 672 000 for further advice.
