Douglas carnival date set, but no Miss Isle of Man return

Douglas Borough Council says the capital’s carnival was such a success this year there’s already a date set for next year’s event.
It’ll take place on Saturday, July 18 – or Sunday, July 19 if the weather’s bad.
But a suggestion the Miss Isle of Man competition could be revived and staged as part of the event has been dropped because it could be seen as dated – and attract criticism.
