The prestigious KHG Funds Senior Open – sponsored by MBL Financial – raised a magnificent total of ?2,000 for Hospice Isle of Man. The Island’s premier seniors event consisted of three rounds held at Douglas, Rowany and Ramsey during July, August and September. Each round featured a ‘beat the pro’ competition on a par three hole chosen by the club professional. Creechurch Capital – KHG Funds investment manager – agreed to donate ?100 to Hospice for every player whose tee shot finished nearer the pin than that of the club pro. A total of ?700 was raised, and the company generously topped-up this sum to a total of ?1,000.
But the fundraising efforts continued at the celebration dinner and presentation evening held after the final round at Ramsey. One of KHG Funds’ non-executive Directors challenged Creechurch Capital Chief Executive John Greenwood to take an ice bucket challenge. He duly accepted, and his challenger agreed to donate ?100 per bucket. Ten icy drenchings later and the final fundraising total for Hospice had reached a total of ?2,000.
John Greenwood commented:
“The KHG Funds Senior Open gets bigger and better every year thanks to the loyalty and enthusiasm of all those who play a part in making it such a superb event. As Hospice is a charity which touches the lives of everyone on the Island, we decided to use this year’s tournament to support their excellent work. On behalf of Creechurch Capital and the KHG Funds Senior Open I would like to thank all the players, host clubs, and club professionals, for supporting our fundraising efforts.”
Mary Doyle, PR and Marketing Manager for Hospice Isle of Man, said:
“I would like to thank the KHG Funds team for organising these golf tournaments, and to John Greenwood for going the extra mile with 10 ALS ice bucket challenges. Hospice will use this very generous donation of ?2,000 to provide ongoing care to the ALS/motor neurone disease patients.”
