King William’s College completes ?1m investment

by isleofman.com 10th October 2014

King William’s College has had its busiest summer ever after investing more than ?1million in the fabric of its historic buildings. Several major projects were undertaken over the summer period, which included a significant upgrade in the Girls’ Boarding House, much needed roof, window and external repairs, a complete makeover of the Fourth Form Year Group Centre, new electrically retractable seating in the main theatre space, and on-going refurbishment of the art building.

The retractable seating in the main theatre space, known as ‘Big School’, has enabled the school to hold large events. These have already included a fashion show by local fashion designer Claire Christian, when the space was turned into a catwalk and dinner venue.

The refurbishments to the Girl’s Boarding House now give this building a new lease of life and the building is a much more inviting space as a consequence.

The Fourth Form Year Group Centre, known as Stenning, has had a complete makeover and makes this space for the fourth form, during break times, a more spacious and relaxing environment.

Martin Humphreys, Principal, commented: “These works, long overdue and part of a long-term commitment to substantially upgrade facilities, have made a real and immediate difference for pupils and staff.”
