Island's air link with Blackpool ends

by isleofman.com 15th October 2014

Citywing makes its last scheduled flight from Blackpool to the Isle of Man this afternoon.
Blackpool Airport closes its commercial operations today after its owners Balfour Beatty failed to find a buyer for the facility.
The last Citywing service will leave the resort at 5pm, ending air links between Blackpool and the Island spanning almost 74 years.
Citywing's managing director David Buck says the firm is committed to "keeping the route alive" and hopes to issue an update soon.
It's understood potential buyers have expressed an interest in acquiring the airport, but no deal had been reached by today's closure deadline.
Mr Buck will be speaking live on our Mandate programme tomorrow morning from 7.30 am.
