by isleofman.com 19th October 2014
Householders are being warned of phone scam.
The caller claims to be an employee of Microsoft Windows and tells the householder that Microsoft systems show that that the person's home computer is running slow on their servers because they are being hacked by someone.
Victims are then duped into providing log-on details to their PCs which could put their personal information at risk
Police say scammers could use this information to remotely hack into personal computers.
Members of the public are reminded that they should never give out any personal information to someone that they do not know personally or completely trust.
Officers add that not even your own Bank will contact you asking for personal information such as passwords or log-on information.
Anyone who is in doubt should speak to a family member or to the Police for advice before passing out any personal information.
