by isleofman.com 20th October 2014
The Speaker of the House of Keys will be among a political delegation visiting the battlefield sites of Flanders today (Monday).
Steve Rodan, accompanied by MLC Alex Downie, is in Kent for the latest session of the British-Irish Parliamentary Assembly.
100 years since the outbreak of World War One, delegates will come together to reflect on and commemorate British and Irish involvement and remember the impact on nations and communities worldwide.
Events planned include a visit to Ypres and the Menin Gate Memorial where, at the Last Post ceremony, Mr Rodan will lay a wreath on behalf of the people of the Island.
He will also play a lament on his bagpipes at one or more of the wreath-laying ceremonies.
