Cost of prom works delay

by isleofman.com 20th October 2014

The decision to halt the second phase of a major refurbishment of Douglas promenade will be raised in the Manx parliament tomorrow.

The scheme was stopped when Phil Gawne took on the role of Infrastructure Minister. He has put a new option, to place the horse tram tracks on the promenade walkway, out for public consultation.

Onchan MHK David Quirk wants to know what costs have been incurred since the minister's decision to re-evaluate the scheme.

The new plans to relocate the horse tram tracks will be on display at the Sea Terminal until the end of this week. The government is urging as many people as possible to give their feedback to the proposals. The closing date for people to indicate their preferred location for the tram tracks is next Monday (October 27), ahead of a presentation to Tynwald next month.
